This is a lovely little short story told in words and pictures by Shaun Tan. Read it, it's very short, and beautifully done. He has a marvelous picturebook (alternatively, it can also be called a graphic novel without words) called The Arrival which I would recommend strongly, and is available at the UBC bookstore in the graphic novels section (go visit it, if you haven't, it's not the biggest collection, but you might find some interesting things in there). If you can't afford it, you can always read it in the store (I read The Arrival at the Borders next to New York Penn Station while waiting for a train).
It's interesting to see a story told in images as well as words sometimes. It reminds one that all our stories start off as pictures in our heads.
